Restorative Yoga

Sue Neufeld with her mother in restorative yoga

Can this really be yoga?

Imagine yourself lying in a restful position, supported by bolsters and blankets and listening to a soothing calm voice that gently guides you into a state of total relaxation with nowhere to go and nothing more to do.

Welcome to Sue's restorative yoga class. This is unlike any other style of yoga. It is the yoga of undoing, of letting go, of surrender. We live in a society that is full of high stress, sensory overload, deadlines, competition and negative news. Restorative yoga is a solution to negative social forces and chronic stress and offers a way to recover from major life events, injury or protracted illness.

It’s a mini-vacation from your busy life and a journey into tranquility and well-being. It's the yoga that gently reminds the nervous system to relax, the adrenals to restore and the organs to be nurtured. Other benefits include a slower heart rate, improved circulation, lower blood pressure and reduced muscle tension.

Sue's restorative yoga will leave you feeling centered, calm and able to face life with clarity and ease. Sue assists class participants with getting into various supported yoga positions throughout the class. These positions are designed to induce a deep relaxation of the nervous system. While resting peacefully, participants are guided through breath work, imagery, visualization and meditation to experience a slowing of the mind and thoughts and to realign with joy and deep-abiding inner peace. Sue ends each class with yoga nidra (guided yogic “sleep”) and meditation. Restorative yoga offers a tremendous healing opportunity for people of all ages and experience levels.

Testimonial:

"Every once in a while you come upon an extraordinary teacher with an intense passion for her work —in this instance her name is Sue Neufeld and she teaches restorative yoga and yoga nidra.

I have attended several of Sue's workshops, and she is beyond a doubt incredibly committed and earnest—and aside from that, she has left me feeling 'high' for at least 48 hours.

You DO NOT have to know anything at all about yoga —this is purely for the participant's sense of well-being."
